AGIP KCO Kashagan Barges
The Kashagan island developments in the Caspian Sea are breaking new ground in oil & gas extraction. With high concentrations of hydrogen sulphide gas, a high pressure reservoir and savage weather conditions, safety is a huge concern. To facilitate this evacuation barges are to be on 24 hour standby in case of an emergency situation.
The barges need to provide a fail safe route away from the islands in an emergency, so all risks were eliminated in the design. Our job was to provide fire resistant (IEC 60331) lightweight cables with small bending radii for the safety critical wiring. As the construction of the barges had started the electrical contractor needed the cables from a stock situation.
Once the specification and service requirements had been interpreted, we were able to provide shipwiring cables designed to IEC60092-3 with Lloyds approval. These cables met all the AGIP KCO specific fire resistant needs.
By listening to the electrical contractors needs and understanding AGIP KCO’s technical requirements FSCG were able to offer a value for money solution that allowed production of the barge to continue without any delays and supported the contractor’s reputation of a key solutions provider in this rapidly growing CIS market.
