FSC Global - Data-Fire Cables

FireTuf Data is a group of high performance fire survival data cables manufactured by Draka and designed to carry on functioning even in the event of a fire. This allows safe monitoring of evacuation without putting additional lives at risk.

The FireTuf Data twisted pair cables provide high data transmission rates and have been developed to mimic Cat 5 cabling as closely as possible. Increasingly popular with system integrators for BMS applications, the cables can be terminated using traditional LAN Insulation Displacement Connectors (IDC) making them ideal for integrating with horizontal backbone wiring systems in offices and public buildings.

Where video is carried the FireTuf Data Coax performs in a similar way to RG59 which is widely used in the CCTV sector. This allows continued monitoring of fire exits and evacuation routes in the event of a fire. BNC connectors (part no. YFTCBC1#) and crimp tools (part no. YTC10) are available from stock to suit Draka FireTuf Data Coax.

At FSC we refer to LSHF as Low Smoke Halogen Free

This term is interchangeable with LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), LSOH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), OHLS (Zero Halogen Low Smoke) and FRNC (Flame Retardant Non-Corrosive). Beware of the terms LSF (Low Smoke and Fume) or RP (Reduced Propogation), when relating to signal or control cables will normally be modified PVC and produce 'Loads of Smoke and Fume'!
