November 2005 South West Gobustan fields, Azerbaijan.

GOC are developing a new condensate extraction facility. The field is due to start pumping late December 2005 and there is still lots of installation work to be completed. The electrical work is being carried out by several different companies based in Canada, Azerbaijan and the U.K. working as a joint venture. With time differences, varying working practices and a lack of equipment to install, the pressure is on.

The Challenge:

In an eight week period FSCG needed to help the GOC team move from a specification stage to pumping condensate. All aspects of the installation need to be specified and supplied from cabling, glands and switchgear to enclosures and lighting.

A project manager from FSCG with knowledge of the OPG industry and expertise in fast-track projects was dedicated to GOC to provide technical support and a single source procurement service, 24 hours a day. This enabled specifications to be agreed, goods ordered and shipped on a daily basis without delay.

By taking advantage of our geographical position to offset time differences and positioning ourselves as a central communications point between the engineering services and client 24 hours a day we were able to supply a tailor made procurement and expeditor service offering the client cost and time savings with the guarantee of the correct goods arriving on time.

Throughout the duration of the project two dedicated lorries and numerous airfreight shipments were made to Azerbaijan to facilitate the installation.

The plant was commissioned in late December and started pumping on time.
